About

Established in November 2023 through collective determination, the Islamic Curriculum Initiative serves as an independent source of guidance for Muslim educators grappling with contemporary challenges. Post-October 7 events highlight an ongoing disparity in the treatment of the oppressed and oppressor. The shift from historical colonialism to modern neo-liberalism prioritizes trade routes over preventing significant loss of life. This points to a unilateral mindset among Western powers marked by double standards and the selective application of international law to advance their agenda.

Philosophy

In our pragmatic pursuit of educational excellence, ICI takes a strategic approach. Recognizing the abundance of resources at our disposal, we strive to quickly create lesson plans and activities by leveraging these materials. These resources cultivates in learners the invaluable skills of critical thinking and the innate wisdom to evaluate content through the lens of Islamic values. Guided by the profound teachings of the Hadith Jibril, ICI seeks to emulate the method by which Jibril (as) imparted wisdom to Muslims across generations through his conversation with the Prophet Muhammad (saw). This unique approach is more than the mere dissemination of knowledge; it is a commitment to fostering enlightened minds and nurturing sound hearts.

Contributors

In the spirit of unity and commitment, our team of dedicated volunteers from different corners of the world come together to contribute to this noble initiative. These passionate curriculum developers and educators representing Türkiye, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, South Africa, USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Palestine have joined hands to weave a tapestry of enriching education for you. Their efforts are not just contributions; they are offerings of positive change, building bridges across borders and cultures. In every lesson plan, activity, and carefully curated piece of content, their selfless dedication is evident. They are the heartbeat of our initiative, and we pray that their tireless efforts will resonate in every corner of the world.

Palestine Curriculum Development Project

At ICI, we are committed to providing educators with the tools they need to empower students around the world about Palestine and Masjid al-Aqsa. Our mission is to cultivate a generation of knowledgeable and resilient individuals unafraid to challenge dominant narratives.

Through carefully crafted lesson plans, training and resources grounded in an Islamic worldview, we aim to equip educators with the tools to foster critical thinking and a deep understanding of Palestinian heritage and history. Our curriculum development project aims to empower students to navigate their world with confidence and resilience. From the history of Zionism, the creation of Israel, the Nakba and the plight of the Palestinian people, including the events of 7 October and forced starvation, to explaining the concept of Sumud through the olive tree, ICI provides unique lesson plans to help students understand the world around them.

Join us on this journey of empowerment and discovery as we celebrate Palestinian identity and resilience through education.

Testimonials (Option 1)

“The ICI is a unique and much-needed collaboration of educators and experts from around the world who have come together to address a gap in curriculum materials that are grounded in an Islamic worldview and framework. Given the urgent crisis facing our Ummah and the world regarding Palestine, they have appropriately chosen to initiate the creation of educational materials that address the lack of curriculum resources on issues related to Palestine. In its short existence, ICI has produced critical documents, lesson plans, and supplementary educational materials for use by educators globally.”

Dr. Shaza Khan,

Executive Director | Islamic Schools League of America (ISLA)

“The importance of a holistic curriculum grounded in a Quranic worldview cannot be exaggerated. Therefore, the efforts made by the Islamic curriculum initiative are vital to raising a generation of educated Muslims equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to make responsible, morally grounded choices and contribute positively to society.”

Hameem Rahman

Director of Curriculum | Yaqeen Institute

“I delivered a lesson on the topic “Exploring Palestinian Dresses” using the ICI lesson plan. The plan was well-structured and engaging, giving clear step-by-step guidance as to what had to be delivered. I strongly believe this lesson plan is a valuable resource for educators to teach about Palestinian attire and how their attire represents their resilience, faith and identity. Looking forward to using more such lesson plans. I definitely recommend them to others.”
